24 and knowing way to many people in the city

Birmingham, although wonderful, is probably the last place I should be during this time in my life.  This weekend on the rare occasion that I went out, I found myself surrounded by people I knew but had no desire to see.  That sounds harsh, I know.I have been here for too long and feel like I need to get out of the city and venture to a brand new town.  But how could I pick up my life and start somewhere new? I have an apartment here and a good job, would it actually be worth it?

I take these thoughts with a grain of salt.  I shouldn't let one night of an unwanted reunion deter me from living in a city that I truly love.

"If it ain't fried, it ain't food"

"In the South if it ain't fried, it ain't food" said my Grandmother this past weekend at our family fish fry.  Lately I have really learned the meaning of family and how important they are to me.  Since we all live in different places these reunions, which usually are surrounded some type of cooking (this one being a fish fry), are very important.

My dad's side of the family came up from Mobile with freshly caught fish that morning.  We then proceeded to catch Catfish with my niece and nephew that day. For the record, I am not good at fishing, the mundane task of casting and reeling in without a fish on the line is not appealing to my ADD personality.  But I cannot complain, watching my niece catch her first fish wearing a seersucker two piece monogrammed swimsuit holding her very own Barbie fishing pole made it worth it.

While the fish were being battered the family got competitive with a pool version of Volleyball.  Sadly, my team lost.

It was nice to take the time to disconnect from all things electronic and focus on the important things.  Silly stories with my family, tall tales about the giant Catfish in my grandfather's pond, and my nephew showing me his newest Karate moves.

All in all there is nothing like a day at the Lake.

Sassy in the South: Love the Wine You're With: Since a lot of my friends have recently moved to the Birmingham area, I wanted to have a gathering where we could all come together, relax,...

My good friend has an amazing blog.  Check it out!
